Penang Sweet Sour Fish is crispy fried fish cooked and covered in a delicious sweet and sour sauce and an assortment of fruits and vegetables. For this amazing sweet and sour recipe, you can use any sort of white fish, with the favourites being tilapia, halibut, bass, cod and similar fish. If you can't get fresh fish, just use any sort of meat fillet instead. I find that frying the fish in a deep fryer gives it a little extra crispiness compared to frying it in a pan or wok.
The sweet and sour sauce in this recipe makes for a great dip for your favourite snacks as well. It's like the sweet chili sauce you find in Thailand, but a tad less spicy. If you have hungry children at your table, you could use the sweet and sour sauce as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets - they'll love you for it!
I also recently received feedback from a foodie in the local community. They say that this sauce can be a great sauce for a chili crab recipe, if I add a few extra chilis to it to give it a spicier taste. I'm going to cover it soon and you'll be able to see the results then!
